CONCEPT

The goal of this project was to create something unlike any record previously released in the Triangle by introducing a creative dynamic in which the musicians had never worked together or, at least, never written music together. The musicians were given several months to create and demo a song. Each group was given one day in the studio to record the final version. The groups chose a photographer to document the studio experience, a visual artist to create album art for the song and a community organization to benefit from record sales.

One dollar from every sale is directly donated to one of the 10 community beneficiaries. “Sales” include vinyl packages, digital album downloads, digital single downloads, teeshirts, posters, stickers and any other item that might be sold in support of this project.

Pet-Tich-Eye is the nickname of a historical character from the Triangle area. We liked his name and thought it would be cool to name the project something that, when searched for on the internet, would only populate results related to our project and results about the history of our area. Sustainable design: The release of this record is the hopeful beginning of a constant creative collaboration in the Triangle. This website will function as a destination for musicians to partner with community organizations to create and release original music in a way that benefits both the artists as well as the organizations. We encourage all the musicians in our community to pitch their ideas about collaborations for future releases.

Sorry for the lack of an update. I’ve recently started a new day job, an it is wearing me out. I’m not bitching though. I do enjoy it. I’m working at an offset/flexo printing facility as a rewind operator. One of these guys.

The company prints labels and stickers that come out on a giant roll. Basically my job is to make as many small rolls from the big one that I can, then ship ‘em out. They were really behind before I started, and now fairly caught up. I’ll be back weekly starting now.

Gross Ghost/Spider Bags East Coast Tour                                                                                      2013

I’m so glad I had the chance to make these. Spider Bags are probably my favorite band, but when you have Kitchen Island Show Prints playing bass, there’s not a lot of need for posters. Lucky for me, both bands wanted a poster to take on the road, so jumped at the chance. Look out for Gross Ghost’s new record coming soon on Odessa Records.

This was not only the first poster I have ever made for comic, but it was also the first time I have ever been to a proper comedy club. I’ve seen stand-up performed at rock clubs, and giant venues, but never an actual comedy club. Miranda and I had an amazing time. This show was incredible. Whatever Brains were amazing, as expected, but I have really started to develop an obsession with The Invisible Hand since seeing them. SO MUCH FUN! Really looking forward to seeing them at Phuzz Phest next month.

Hey Poster Lovers,

I can’t write a blog right today. I’m too busy trying to find the pieces of my mind after last night’s Swans show. Two and a half hours of bliss. FYI, Michael Gira took one of these for his personal collection…Pretty cool.

Blunt Graffix and LTD Gallery put on “A TRIBUTE TO THE MORTAL GODS OF SOUND” in Seattle. Inside the Rock Poster Frame covered the event, and pictures can be seen here.

The Hopscotch Music Festival poster I made

Once again the second weekend in September has passed, and once again Hopscotch was unbelievable. The bands, the parties, the food, the people, plain and simple; it was an incredible weekend. This year I was asked to be a part of the annual poster show, POSTERscotch. Amplified Art and Skillet Gilmore put together a damn fine party. It felt really special to be hanging work with these guys (and gal).

We finished out Hopscotch 2012 with our favorite band from 2011. WYE OAK!!!!

You Won’t opened the show, and blew everyone in the crowd away. I can’t tell you how many times I heard someone say “I can’t believe there’s only two of them.”
